Google Launches ‘Inbox’, A More Evolved Lifestyle Email Client

Today, Google has launched a hybrid new email service called ‘Inbox’ that blends communication along with lifestyle integration. Think of Gmail mixed with Google Now and a dash of Siri. Accordingly, the Google Inbox is designed to focus on what really matters.

So with Inbox, Google is bringing far more than just emails into people’s inboxes but also reminders, tasks, photos, purchases, flights and much more.  Some of the specific new features include:

  1. Bundles Inbox features a new way to categorize mail all at once that will group like-minded items (receipts, account statements, etc.) together for quick consumption and ability to swipe away.

  2. Highlights Instead of having to search through email to find pertinent dates, flights or purchases, Inbox will find and display them for you. Inbox will discover the information and mix with data from the web to provide in-depth highlights for your review.

  1. Reminders & Assists Users will have the ability to add their own reminders into Inbox which will in-turn provide ‘assists’ to help complete them. An assist might be an address, phone number or link to check-in to a flight for the reminder that was entered into Inbox.

Right now, Inbox will not work with Google Apps customers but all other users can request an invite by emailing:  inbox@google.com.
