Last month, we
reported on new features for Facebook Insights being rolled out over the coming weeks. Now that a number of the features are available, Facebook marketer Jon Loomer has published a comprehensive overview of the updates on his blog at JohnLoomer.com.
According to Loomer, Facebook Insights is, “drastically different than before.” He outlines a number of new features, including an improved interface, rate comparisons, a click and drag date select tool, and more filtering options.
An additional feature is the new “Best Post Types” that highlights best performing posts based on Reach, Post Clicks and Likes, Comments and Shares.
Loomer’s favorite updates include a graphic that shows the average number of people who saw a post during each hour of the day during a seven-day period, making it possible for Facebook administrators to see when Fans are on Facebook and tailor their post times accordingly. He is also a big fan of the new Benchmarks report that allows you to compare performance over time, as well as a new separate stat for Post Clicks to get a better view of the types of clicks a post may receive.
While Loomer gives the Facebook Insights updates a mostly glowing report, he does call attention to how exports were not updated and are still difficult to use. He also points out that the exports contain the deep data that isn’t available in the top level data supplied by the web version.
