released its S-1 form on October 3. In that document, the company reported revenues of just under $317 million in 2012 and revenues of slightly less than $254 million for the first six months of 2013. This afternoon, Twitter amended its S-1 to reflect Q3 earnings of roughly $168 million.
Thus, for the first nine months of this year, Twitter generated revenues of $422.2 million and a loss of approximately $126 million (vs. a little more than $68 million for the same period last year). Accordingly, Twitter will easily clear $500 million in revenue for 2013.
Previously, Twitter reported 215 million monthly active users (MAUs) on a global basis. In the amended filing, Twitter said it now had 231.7 million MAUs, growth of 39 percent vs. Q3 2012. In the US, Twitter had 52.7 million MAUs and 179 million outside the US.
Twitter also reported that 76 percent of MAUs accessed Twitter from mobile vs. 69 percent in 2012. Finally, Twitter said that more than 70 percent of its ad revenue came from mobile devices vs. 65 percent last quarter.
