A recent

report from Pew Research Center revealed high Twitter usage among young African Americans, with 40 percent of 18 – 29 year old African American internet users on Twitter compared to 28 percent of whites in the same age group.

According to Pew, general adoption of social media sites is nearly equal for both African American internet users (73%) and white internet users (72%), but African Americans have higher rates of Twitter usage compared to whites.
