Philips Sonicare Gamifies Tooth Brushing With App

brushbusters

Working with Achtung!, Philips Sonicare is out with a new app called Brush Busters. The app is designed to help parents master one of the most difficult parenting jobs of them all: getting their kids to brush their teeth properly.

The app gamifies the process of brushing one’s teeth by getting kids to help game characters Bjorn Big Tooth and Vicky One Fang. And the app connects (by sensing the sound of the brush) with the Sonicare toothbrush so it knows when kids are brushing and when they are not. The app is part of the company’s push for its newly-launched Sonicare for Kids electric toothbrushes, aimed at children between the ages of four and ten.

In the app, there is also a brushing tutorial to teach kids how to brush properly and when they do, they are awarded with achievement badges.

Parents can also use the app to monitor how often and how well their children are brushing. They can also offer customized awards to their children to reinforce good brushing habits.
