It’s now been two full weeks since Facebook jumped into the hashtag market. A recent survey from SimplyMeasured found that so far, hashtags have been a hit with the top brands on Facebook.
From June 12th to June 24th, 56% of the top 100 brands have posted a Facebook update that contained a hashtag. Nearly 40% of brands have posted multiple hashtagged posts, and a small portion of the brands went hashtag crazy with 10+ hashtag laden posts in that timeframe.

The hashtagging hasn’t been on a fleeting trial-basis. Brands have slowly ramped up the use of hashtags since Jun 12th. Of the posts of the top 100 brands, just 8% contained hashtags on the day after the announcement, Thursday June 13. On the following Thursday, June 20th, SimplyMeasured saw 26% of top brand posts with hashtags included.

Not a bad start for Facebook’s hashtag products. Many brands like Porsche are now using hashtags for cross-platform contests. For the full study and more information, see SimplyMeasured.
