With less than a month to go until
Google Reader shuts down on July 1st, Feedly has shared what it’s been doing — and still plans to do — as RSS users search for an alternate feed reader.
In a blog post, Feedly also says its userbase has been growing since Google’s announcement in mid-March:
68 percent of those who try Feedly convert into active weekly users
active users have doubled the time spent using Feedly
Feedly users are sharing 10x more content to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest thanks to its partnership with Buffer
From looking at the analytics of some sites that I have access to, Feedly has become the primary replacement for Google Reader so far — and on some sites, there’s not a close second place RSS reader.
Feedly also says it plans to focus on improving speed this year as one of several items on its roadmap:
speed
search
pure web access
Windows Phone and Windows 8 compatibility
improved group sharing
bug fixes
Not mentioned in the roadmap is offline feed access, but Feedly has also announced plans to support several apps that do provide offline access, such as Reeder, Press, Nextgen, G Reader and Newsify.
