Actor/comedian Craig Robinson, famous for The Office and Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is making quite a name for himself in the ad world. Just a few months ago, he could be spotted fronting several very funny ads for Hay Day. Now, he, along with fellow actor/comedian Jake Johnson, is fronting a campaign for Dodge Dart.
Robinson and Johnson appear in several ads for the vehicle that center around the idea that Robertson really, really doesn’t want Johnson, or anyone for that matter, to touch his dart.
But what’s even more interesting than the spots, is the branded YouTube page on which the spots appears. Under each spot is a picture of Robinson with the headline, “Don’t Scroll Down Any Further.” Which, of course, makes any normal person want to scroll further.
And when you do, you are rewarded with intriguing copy and Johnson’s voice which jumps in every once in a while — as you endlessly scroll down his shirt — to say things like, “That’s far enough” and “Stop it,” and “Don’t touch my Dart” and, finally, when you do touch his Dart, “That’s it! I’m going to have to take you to Dodge.com.”
The final copy, “That’s Not A Real Dart Anyway,” which appears once you’ve scrolled for miles and are now between Robertson’s legs, causes one to wonder just what that copy refers to.
In any event, it’s a fun and engaging use of a YouTube video page. Share buttons, of course, are included which will auto-populate a Tweet with “Craig Robinson has a Dart. You can look at it. You can talk about it. But whatever you do, don’t touch it. www.donttouchmydart.com”
