Today, comScore issued its latest smartphone market share report. As has been true for the past several months, not much has changed.
Apple remained the top smartphone maker, though Samsung gained two points. All the other major manufacturers lost share.
Android remained the top mobile operating system, with 52 percent of the US smartphone market while the iPhone gained nearly a point. ComScore also reported a 0.1 percent gain for Windows Phone (any positive movement has got to be welcome).
Nielsen’s figures (below) are almost identical, with Android capturing 52 percent of the market and the iPhone at 40 percent market share.

According to comScore 59 percent of US mobile subscribers owned smartphones in June. Nielsen says current smartphone penetration in the US is 62 percent.
