Yelp Reports 65 Percent Revenue Growth But Bigger Than Expected Loss

earnings this afternoon were a mixed bag (as they say), with strong revenue growth but a larger-than-expected loss. Revenue was $41.2 million in Q4, a 65 percent increase vs. a year ago. The company also posted a loss of $5.3 million in the fourth quarter.

Revenue for the full year was $137.6 million, which represented an increase of 65 percent vs. $83.3 million last year.  Shares are down slightly in after-hours trading after rising throughout the day.

  1. 25 percent of local ads were shown on mobile devices

  2. The Yelp mobile app was used on approximately 9.2 million  mobile devices on a monthly average basis

  3. Yelp how has 36 million reviews

  4. At the end of 2012 there were 86 million monthly unique users; there are now 100 million

  5. Active local business accounts grew 68 percent year over year to approximately 39,800

  6. 61 percent of photos on yelp were uploaded via mobile

  7. Nearly half (46 percent) of total Yelp search query volume comes from mobile devices

In an infographic, Yelp released additional data, including an estimate that the company hypothetically influences roughly $10 billion in local, offline commerce.
