Yahoo’s Twitter Account Hacked, Tweets Out Ebola Outbreak Report

Even the big guys are susceptible to infiltration. Yahoo’s News Twitter account @YahooNews was compromised yesterday and the hackers were able to push out a fraudulent Tweet about a non-existent Ebola outbreak as shown above.

Thankfully Yahoo was able to correct the issue in just a short matter of time and released the following Tweet:

Earlier, an unauthorized tweet with misinformation on Ebola was sent from this account; please disregard that tweet. — Yahoo News (@YahooNews) August 10, 2014

There’s never a better time to check your account credentials and change your passwords then when a big brand is compromised. While the source of the hack is still unknowns, you may want to start by viewing what applications have access to your account. Shoot over to your settings tab and see who you (or someone else) has granted access to.
