Who’s More Excited Than Google About Glass? Facebook.

Among the things you might never have expected to hear: Google’s Sergey Brin helping Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg try on a pair of Google Glass glasses. That happened yesterday, as Zuckerberg expressed that he couldn’t wait to get a pair of his own.

The surprising encounter happened thanks to the recent Life Sciences Breakthrough prize. The project was founded by Art Levinson, Sergey Brin, Anne Wojcicki, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan and Yuri Milner to recognize excellence to those that target cures for intractable disease and extending human life.

Yes, you saw that correctly, the Facebook founder and a Google co-founder working to support a cause as one.

According to Forbes, Mark Zuckerberg and Sergey Brin met in the back corner of a UCSF auditorium to chat informally about the Google Glass project. After the interviews, Brin participated in an impromptu sharing of his glasses with Zuckerberg. Brin even helped fit the glasses on Zuck’s head.

Zuckerberg was quick to commend Google as well, stating “I can’t wait to get my own.” Praising a competitor is something very out of character for Facebook, especially when that competitor is Google

According to Forbes, Facebook is already preparing for the Glass launch:

“According to Zuckerberg, Facebook has a team of three engineers, led by a former Google employee, waiting for the product to be shipped to them so they can start building applications.”
