The holidays saw a big increase in online sales in the US, according to the Census Bureau’s latest quarterly e-commerce sales report.

The bureau estimates $89.1 billion in e-commerce sales during Q4 of 2015, a 14.7-percent jump from Q4 2014. The figure also represents a quarterly gain of 2.1 percent over the third quarter of 2015. For comparison, overall retail sales — online and offline — were up 1.3 percent in Q4.

The full-year estimate for 2015 was up about the same as the Q4 numbers. The Census Bureau pegs total e-commerce sales last year at $341.7 billion, a 14.6-percent gain over 2014. For the full calendar year, e-commerce made up 7.3 percent of all retail sales, up from 6.4 percent in 2014.
