Yesterday, social sharing and analytics tool Buffer announced a major milestone — one million users. Buffer has been at the forefront of social sharing innovation as they now integrate with all major social networks and have integrated with other popular services like FollowerWonk.
Buffer got their start back in Fall of 2010 when Joel Gascoige and Leo Widrich started the company in Birmingham, UK. In May 2011 the Buffer team quit their day jobs and went all-in full time on Buffer. A few months later the company moved to San Francisco and kept the momentum going. They secured investment and built the team up to 10 people.
To date there have been over 87 million posts shared and the Buffer accounts tie in 1,266,722 total social accounts. While Buffer has a free model, they now have 16,204 paying customers for $2,071,884. Here’s a look at a graphic that they created around the event:
From a marketing angle, don’t overlook the Digg plugin that Buffer has created. The simple tool allows users to not only instantly share posts, but also for the 1,000,000 users to add directly to their Buffer account.
Congrats to Buffer; keep the innovation coming!
