Twitter Tests A Super Simple Video Sharing Feature For iOS

Who said sharing video has to be tricky? A new test spotted by Peter Kafka at re/code found the ability for iOS users to include pre-selected video clips if they were using hashtags around the upcoming movie “A Million Ways To Die In The West.” If a user enters (or begins to enter) the hashtag of the movie name, they are provided video clips form the official movie account @AMillionWays.

If the users select the clip then can quickly watch it and “attach” to their Tweet. Like every other 140 character message, once the clip is attached, the user can customize the text in the Tweet to match the video.

Kafka points out that this doesn’t appear to be a paid ad as there is no disclaimer information and the use of “provided by” instead of “promoted by.’ There are other examples that this works on as well such as the movie Blended (#blended).

The big takeway here is that this instant video attachment could be a boon for advertisers, especially in the entertainment field. This could give brands the ability to leverage their audience and people talking and interacting with them to further push sponsored clips on their behalf in a no-sweat simple format.
