Yesterday, Facebook announced a major milestone: 1 million active advertisers. This number is comprised of global advertisers that used the service within the past 28 days.
According to Reuters, the majority of these active advertisers are SMBs as over 16 million local businesses have set up active Facebook Pages. While “small” may make up the M in SMB, the overall budgets are anything but. According to eMarketer, small marketers like these businesses spent roughly $32 billion during 2012. The Reuters article also states:
More than 50 percent of small business owners use Facebook pages to promote their products, but only 16 percent use Facebook ads, according to BIA Kelsey, a research firm specializing in local advertising.
Additionally Facebook released the following metrics:
There are more than two billion connections between local businesses and people.
In an average week, there are over 645 million views of, and 13 million comments on, local business Facebook Pages.
Approximately 70% of monthly active users in the U.S. and Canada are connected to a local business on Facebook.
Ad revenue makes up 85% of all Facebook revenue and Facebook advertising has grown 43% last quarter. Another eMarketer report from this week has projected Facebook’s Mobile Ad revenue to jump an astounding 333% in 2013 as well.
