After making it possible to save live video broadcasts beyond the original 24-hour time period, Periscope announced today it would soon be launching new search capabilities, drone broadcasts (with iPhones) and more control over saved videos.
According to Periscope’s “Coming Soon” post, users will soon be able to search for live broadcasts by topic, as well as tag broadcasts as they are being filmed so that they can be easily found.
When you tap on the search button in the Global List, you’ll see a list of suggested topics to search for, including #Travel, #Music, #Food and more. To broadcast about a topic, simply tap the Broadcast button in the topic’s search results to add the relevant hashtag, or add the hashtag to your title directly. Periscope Blog
The live video app is also adding a specialized search feature called First Scope to search for new broadcasters, in addition to a “GoPros and Drones” search option to find GoPro-specific videos and drone footage.
Periscope says users will be able to stream live video from drones using an iPhone and DJI drone, with the option to “… narrate from a bird’s eye view using your phone or even Sketch on the broadcast to highlight different sights.”

Periscope says it will also be giving users more control over their saved videos.
“Our goal is to give you full control of your broadcasts. Soon, your broadcasts will be automatically saved on Periscope and Twitter with comments and hearts.”
Users will still be able to delete videos, or only save them for only 24 hours, an option that will have to be configured in account settings.
