Ingenious Stunt Tricks Real Pets With TV Pets

lg_tv_4k_pets

What’s more fun that a cat video, a dog video, or even a parakeet video? A video featuring all three, that’s what!

Electronics brand LG created just that to tout the brand’s new 4K TV. The brand filmed clips featuring animals against various backgrounds that would match the backgrounds of the settings in which they’d later place the TV.

This was done to trick other animals into thinking they were interacting with a real animal when, in fact, that animal was simply a representation on the 4K TV. This, of course, served to demonstrate the awesome quality of the TV’s picture.

Of course, pets have done this for years with pre-HD TVs dating back to the sixties, but let’s not quibble. The video features animals! And animal videos are awesome! And people love to watch them! And, so far, almost 325,000 people have watched this particular video.

The brand is promoting the video on Twitter as well:

The hashtag #MyPetLovesLG4KTV is being used, and several Twitter users have seemingly partnered with LG to promote the video with tweets that carry the #sponsored hashtag:

A Pets360 and BlogPaws giveaway accompanies the effort as well, and will award points to those who watch the video, answer questions about it, like it, tweet about the giveaway, follow @LGUS or leave a comment on YouTube about the video.

LG has a history of stunts like this; they’ve even gone so far as to trick humans with the quality of the TVs image. Check out this stunt in which a TV standing in as a window scares the crap out of interviewees, Armageddon-style. That video has been viewed over 17.3 million times.

They also did an elevator stunt with TVs standing in for the floor of the elevator. Realistic images tricked riders into thinking the floor was falling out from underneath them. That video has been viewed over 23 million times.

All of this leads one to believe that tricking humans is way more interesting than tricking pets. But, pets! We still love pets. Right?
