Wouldn’t your Super Bowl ad-watching experience be improved 1,000 percent if you could talk conversion rates and cross-channel campaigns with industry colleagues as the TV spots air, maybe over an adult beverage or two? After all, for many brands, the big game is the highlight of their marketing year, where they kick off multi-platform efforts destined to continue for months on desktop and mobile, so there’s plenty to observe and learn from.
Thankfully, you can attend that ideal Super Bowl party no matter where you are — when you make the Marketing Land #HashtagBowl Live Blog your second screen. Your virtual fellow attendees will include insightful digital strategists such as:
Peter Minnium, president of Ipsos Connect and longtime display advertising columnist on Marketing Land
Kerry Curran, senior partner and managing director of marketing integration at Catalyst/GroupM
James Green, CEO of Magnetic and a stalwart Marketing Land marketing strategies columnist
These luminaries will be joined by Marketing Land editors such as me and Jessica Thompson, along with community manager Lauren Donovan, who will be appearing via the ML Twitter account, @MarketingLand. Founding editor Danny Sullivan will be keeping and sharing a running tally of social media mentions in the ads and contributing his own commentary now and then.
We hope you’ll also share your own point of view by commenting on the live blog and engaging with us — this is a party, after all!
In addition to snarking about the commercials, we’ll be able to comment on unique real-time data we’ll share about social activity and more, giving us all insight into how successfully the advertisers are at turning their big moment into interest and engagement. Many thanks to the companies — Brandwatch, Spredfast, Edmunds.com and iSpotTV — that will be providing us with this important data.
In case you don’t know them already, here’s a little more information about our panelists:
Peter Minnium is president of Ipsos Connect, where he leads the US team in helping companies measure and amplify how media, brands and consumers connect. Prior to his current role, he headed up branding initiatives at the Interactive Advertising Bureau. He’s especially interested in raising the bar for creativity in digital advertising, so he’s well-suited to analyze potentially pioneering Super Bowl efforts.
Kerry Curran of Catalyst/GroupM is a first-timer on our live blog coverage, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her. She is expert at marketing integration, having worked with clients like P&G, American Express, Kraft and Land Rover on efforts including search and social. She has 18 years of experience in digital marketing employing cross-channel tactics including programmatic display, paid search, SEO, affiliate marketing and aggregator marketing.
Those of you who’ve tuned into the live blog in previous years will recognize the intelligent and interesting commentary provided by James Green. In addition to being a longtime Marketing Land columnist, he is CEO of Magnetic, which offers technology for prospecting, remarketing and merchandising. He began his career in the entertainment industry, spending eight years at the Walt Disney Company and then working for Steve Jobs as VP of marketing and new business development at Pixar Animation Studios.
We look forward to praising and criticizing the ads with you during our ultimate industry Super Bowl party. Find it on Sunday via our #HashtagBowl page or the front page of Marketing Land!
