Until today, it’s been a bit of a sad experience for web-only Twitter users. While these users have been viewing Tweets on their large monitors they’ve been missing some crucial context in Tweets — the emojis. While mobile users were able to visually express their feelings with emojis, web users would have no context, and would simply see a square box ✨ .
Thankfully, this week Twitter has announced they now support the use of emojis on the web client. Until this point, there was no real reason for brands and marketers to use emojis as the square box for web users typically would cause more confusion than benefit. However, with this new universal support testing emojis in Tweets would be encouraged.
See the @support Tweet for the official announcement.
