On Monday, eBay announced the launch of Promoted Listings. EBay Store sellers can promote their products within related search results.
Rather than being priced on a cost-per-click basis, sellers will only pay for Promoted Listings when users make a purchase from their eBay store after clicking on an ad. Seller set bids ad a percentage of the final purchase price, ranging from 1 to 20 percent.
The ads will trigger based on structured data in sellers’ product feeds such as brand names, universal product codes and other product identifiers.
The ad product is only available by invite to a set of eBay Store subscribers in the US, UK, Germany and Australia at this time, but EBay says it plans to expand the program this year.
Interested sellers can sign-up for the waitlist now. Ads are running on desktop and eBay’s iOS app, with plans to expand to the Android app later this summer.
