Buffer, the increasingly popular social media management tool, has announced a new update for both its web interface and iPhone app. Together, the two products are getting a pretty substantial list of new features along with a new look.
The new Buffer web app sports a new design that appears to make it easier to choose social accounts when publishing, and also shows the media (photos, videos, etc.) right inline with scheduled updates in the Buffer queue.
Analytics are grouped together under a new menu option, and now indicates which posts performed best with “top tweet” and other icons.
Among the new web features are drag-and-drop copying that lets you take one update and move it to other accounts for sharing from there, and a “shuffle” option that tells Buffer to randomize the order of scheduled posts.
The new Buffer iPhone app boasts most of the same functionality of the web version. It also connects directly to the iPhone’s photo storage system for easier image posting and adds rich media previews so you can see links and images that are in your queue. I haven’t updated my copy of the app yet, but based on the screenshots in Buffer’s announcement, it looks like a night-and-day improvement over the previous version.
