Brands Ride The #Llama Drama

llamas

It doesn’t take much to rev up the Internet’s absurdity engine. Today, it was a pair of runaway llamas eluding capture by Sheriff’s deputies in Sun City, Ariz., much to the amusement of the Internet’s chattering masses. Low speed chase, anyone?

In case you missed it, head over to Deadspin to see a video of the incident, appropriately set to the tune of “Yakety Sax.”

On Twitter, #llamas, #teamllama and Black Llama made up three of the top four trending topics at one point in the afternoon. According to social analytics firm Spredfast, at its peak, at 3:30 p.m. Eastern, the llama conversation was generating 3,084 tweets a minute.

Naturally, brands weren’t about to pass up a real-time marketing opportunity. Here’s a selection of some that we found. We’ll leave it up to you to decide which ones lean on groan-worthy puns and which were clever.
