Amazon undercuts Walmart’s free shipping minimum — dropping order amount to $25

Amazon and Walmart’s battle over who has the lowest minimum order amount for free shipping hit another milestone this week, when Amazon undercut Walmart by $10 — dropping its minimum to $25.

In February, Amazon dropped its free shipping minimum to $35 to match Walmart, but now, the e-commerce giant is going even lower, offering free shipping for non-Prime members on all orders of $25 or more (on eligible items).

The drop was spotted yesterday by BestBlackFriday.com on Amazon’s shipping options page:

“While we are not sure of the exact date that the new shipping minimum went into effect, we can tell you that it was sometime in the past week. According to Archive.org, Amazon still had the $35 minimum in effect as of May 2,” reports BestBlackFriday.com.

Walmart took the first shot back in January when it began offering free two-day shipping on orders of $35 or more. At the time, Amazon’s free shipping minimum for non-Prime members was set at $49. In February, Amazon dropped its free shipping minimum to $35 to match Walmart.

With its latest move, Amazon has nearly halved its minimum for free shipping since February — going from $49 to $25 as of this week.
