In its debut appearance on Glassdoor’s annual Best Places to Work list for 2016, Airbnb took the top spot, outranking Google, which dropped from its No. 1 ranking last year to an underwhelming No. 8 this year.
Of the top 20 best places to work in the US, more than half were tech companies, with Airbnb, Guidewire, HubSpot and Facebook all making it into the top five.
Top Tech Companies on Glassdoor’s 2016 Best Places to Work List
Based on anonymous reviews and ratings by company employees, this year’s Glassdoor Employee Choice Awards were divided into six different categories, including the Top 50 Best Places to Work for large companies, Top 50 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work For, as well as the top places to work in Canada, the UK, France and Germany.

Glassdoor says companies are ranked using its proprietary algorithm to analyze voluntary and anonymous feedback from employees about their jobs, work environment and employers. To be considered for the Top 50 Best Places to Work rankings, companies were required to have accumulated at least 75 reviews.
