CEO Larry Page may be soon leaving the Google building, but even as he dreams of running Alphabet, Page still found time to express some love for the oft-maligned Google+.
In comments on Page’s Google+ post about the forthcoming Alphabet, he was asked if he and cofounder Sergey Brin still loved Google+. “Yes, we still love G+!,” Page replied:
The future of Google+ came under question yet again last month, as Google announced it was disconnecting the social service from other parts of Google, such as YouTube.
After that, Google vice president Bradley Horowitz reassured that Google+ itself wasn’t dead and would continue as a “connection” platform. Now Page, still Google’s top-most leader, has added his support in only his fourth public post of 2015 on the service.
While Page didn’t get into details, Google is retaining many of the things its already has control over, such as search, Android and YouTube. There’s every indication that this means Google+ will also continue to reside within Google, rather than be spun out as a separate Alphabet company.
