Vine Username Reservations Open For Verified Twitter Accounts (And Maybe Anyone?)

Vine is finally taking the needed step of creating profile pages and giving its users the chance to reserve a permanent username/URL.

I say “needed” because there’s currently no way to see all of an account’s Vine videos easily. So for brands (and individuals) that have been doing clever things with the six-second videos, there’s been no way to point users to a Vine account page to browse through archives, get old video URLs or embed codes, etc. That will presumably change when the reservation process ends and Vine rolls out profile pages at the vine.co/USERNAME addresses.

The form launched this morning at vine.co/profiles, and is reportedly only for verified Twitter account holders. The rest of us, according to reports, are supposed to have to wait until Monday for the general land rush to begin.

But even though I’m not verified on Twitter, I had no problem just now using the form and reserving my Vine username:

vine-username
vine-username-2

Whether that reservation actually sticks for me … no idea. I guess I’ll find out Monday when I go back to the form and try again, just to make sure I get that URL.

Want to get your own Vine URL, or at least give it a try? Go here — vine.co/profiles — and good luck.
