Twitter Users Now Get List Of Auto-Complete Hashtag Suggestions On The Web

While

Twitter‘s Android and iOS apps already have an auto-complete function for trending hashtags, the social media site has brought the feature to the web, making it possible for users to find popular content more quickly, and, according to a report on TheNextWeb.com, to help, “…funnel the discussion around hot button topics in a more focused fashion.”

Twitter’s auto-complete offers users an extra level of direction by providing a collection of currently trending hashtags. A user wanting to find tweets on a specific topic – or connect their own tweets to a specific Twitter conversation – will not have to guess which hashtags are being used for popular topics. Instead, they will get a list of trending hashtag suggestions depending on the popularity of the discussion.

TheNextWeb.com article points out that the new hashtag auto-complete feature advances Twitter’s ability to collect and analyze data on popular conversations, making the site more valuable in the eyes of their Certified Products and Data Reseller partners, or anyone using Twitter for business purposes.

This new direction also benefits Twitter’s business goals, “If, for instance, [Twitter] wants to expand its #music product to other arenas like video or photo albums, then having hashtags that sift content properly is a bigtime priority,” writes TheNextWeb.com reporter Matthew Panzarino.
