Vine co-founder, Colin Kroll, announced in a blog post today that the six-second mobile video app is going global. Vine’s iOS app has been translated into 19 new languages and the Android app is now available in 21 more languages.
The newest languages are: Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Thai and Turkish. Vine for Android is also available Filipino and Polish.
Kroll added, “We’re also beginning to explore ways to surface Vine videos that are popular in a particular country”. The filtering would make it easier for users in a particular country to see the top Vines in their area rather than what’s trending globally.
In October, Vine added editing features and the ability to work on multiple videos at a time. Vine’s growth tripled in just two months after releasing its Android app in June. Registered users shot up from 13 million to top 40 million in August.
