Rumor: Edit Feature For Tweets In The Works
Ever wish you could re-work any of the 140 characters that you just posted to your account? Well, your wish may soon be granted. According to The Desk, Twitter is working on a way for users to edit Tweets for a limited time after they’ve been posted. The article confirms this from three sources and would allow the user to make “slight changes to the contents of a tweet, such a removing a word, correcting a typo or adding one or two additional words.”
The goal of this change would be to allow minor mistakes to be fixed while keeping the integrity of the overall message. Essentially users would be able to modify the wording, not the messaging.
Report: New Test To Profile Pages To Boost Web Usage
According to Bloomberg, Twitter is in the process of revamping and redesigning profile pages to build a better web product that would attract more usage. The new designs would be put in place to highlight more useful content for users, such as having the most popular post featured. The article states that posts, images and followers could all be included in this redesign.
Right now Profile pages lack an comprehensive marketing feel as they are simply a timeline of Tweets. Showing top Tweets, recent action and making the profile pages more interactive could be a boon for overall Twitter traffic, especially with the current Facebook environment.
In The Wild: Twitter Test Shows “Nearby” Tweets
On the local battlefront a new Twitter test has emerged that will help connect nearby users. This test was captured by users and shows a “nearby” screen that includes images of updates from users that have location sharing enabled. The functionality plots a Tweet on a map that can be accessed directly within the Nearby Tab.
With the number of Twitter users that keep their visibility public, this could be quite meaningful for users. Allowing people to quickly communicate at events, conferences or during an emergency would be a big advantage that not many other networks could pull off.
It should be noted that none of these tests or rumors have been confirmed, but it is great to see the alleged post-IPO innovation.
