Twitter’s notifications tab on the Web is displaying analytic highlights for some verified users.
At the top of the tab, only on the Twitter’s desktop version, users are seeing up to three high-activity highlights — “Popular Tweet,” “Noteworthy Mention” and “Top Follow.” Each time a user refreshes the page, a new set of highlights from the last day is displayed (until the supply of recent highlights has been exhausted).
Here’s how it looked this morning on my colleague Danny Sullivan’s account:
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed the test, spotted first by BuzzFeed News, emailing this statement: “We’re experimenting with highlighting notable Tweets and activity in some verified users’ notifications timelines. These are Tweets and activity they might otherwise miss due to the large volume of notifications these users tend to receive on a daily basis.”
The information for the highlighted activity is available anytime from Twitter’s analytics dashboard, which it revamped in March, but this could be a handy addition for people managing popular accounts.
