Twitter Expands Enhanced Brand Profiles – And Not Just For Advertisers

As

expected, Twitter has expanded its enhanced brand profiles product to several new account holders today — and it’s not only being rolled out to advertisers.

In a statement, Twitter says the enhanced profiles are rolling out to non-advertiser organizations and even individuals.

“Enhanced profile pages will continue to roll out to advertising partners, as well as other select partners, charities, media organizations, and individuals.”

Twitter tells us that it doesn’t “have a specific number or full list” of accounts that were upgraded today to the enhanced profiles, but some of the examples the spokesperson shared with us include NPR News, NBC News and Volkswagen USA.

Enhanced profiles allow the account holder to add an additional image to the “header” of its profile page, and to “pin” a tweet above its regular stream of tweets. The pinned tweet will be open by default so that any video or photo included with the tweet displays automatically, without the viewing needing to click.

Below are some screenshots of those accounts. For more background on enhanced profiles, see Greg Sterling’s article from when the product was announced in December.
