The First New User Sign-Up Path In 3 Years Arrives On Twitter

Twitter users that are new to the service will be greeted by a brand new sign-up flow, the first change to the user experience in quite awhile. According to Twitter’s Senior Director of Product Management, Christian Oestlien, the refresh took months to complete and has been the first major update in 3 years:

After months of effort, Twitter's website has a new sign-up flow. Our first major update in 3 years. Congrats team! pic.twitter.com/YP3USo4WVz — Christian Oestlien (@christianism) August 29, 2014

According to follow up Tweets by Mr. Oestlien the new user experience has been thoroughly tested, performing better than the old process which will hopefully keep users engaged with the service. Some of the focus in the new user intake redesign is on an interest picker, a cleaner user upload process and a better blended mix of content coming from a user’s graph.
