The allure of Twitter has always been collaborative real-time info delivered instantly. A new feature that was spotted in the wild adds a geographic “place” layer to the mix – pooling top tweets, photos and videos from a specific location.
This new test spotted by VentureBeat shows clickable place links with individual Tweets. By clicking on this location link a user is whisked along to the main place page where they can view top Tweets, a Livestream, accounts, photos, videos, or news. A live example of a specific place page for San Francisco can be found here.
This is a fuller featured product than simply using traditional Twitter search. Instead, it is a better representation of crowd-sourced local news that looks to rely less on specific location-centric keywords to display Tweets than a traditional Twitter search.
