Revamped Twitter Homepage Offers New Users A Smorgasbord Of Tiled Options

One of the ongoing challenges that Twitter has faced is converting visitors into long-term, active users. In September, Twitter cleaned up its user intake path, the first major change to the process in three years.

It then surfaced that Twitter was going to take a more “tiled” approach to the homepage instead of the current iteration that features one large user-generated image. Today, that new homepage has been spotted in the wild by re/code.

The new homepage test is nearly the exact opposite of what’s seen today. Twitter profiles and accounts are grouped by hot topics such as “NBA Players, teams & personalities,” “Politicians, pundits, & parties,” or TV shows & stars.” A side nav also exists to help tune the displayed groupings.

This may help “set the hook” in users who are on the fence about joining the service, as they’d be able to get a glimpse into what they may see if they did sign up. Twitter did confirm with re/code that this was an official test currently being administrated.

For more information see re/code.
