Report: iPhone 5 Models Driving 40 Percent Of Traffic

According to new

data from ad network Chitika, the iPhone 5 together with the just released 5s and 5c models are now responsible for more than 40 percent of iPhone traffic in North America.

Using screen size and resolution analysis of “tens of millions of North American ad impressions generated by iPhone users between September 13 and October 3, 2013,” Chitika identified iPhone 5 models and separated them from earlier iPhones on the network.

Accordingly the remaining 59.4 percent of traffic is coming from older iPhone models. Chitika was not able to give me a sense of the distribution of traffic from those handsets.

A new iPhone buyer survey (n=500) conducted by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners reflected that the iPhone 5S was responsible for 64 percent of sales (since September 20), while the iPhone 5C accounted for 27 percent and the 4s drove 9 percent.
