Report: Filterable, Content Specific Feeds Coming To The Facebook News Feed Tomorrow

In a press event tomorrow, Facebook will be announcing big changes to the news feed … again. According to TechCrunch, the changes will include filter-able content that will allow users to view specific content on their feed. Filterable options will exist on the top of the page and will include sorting the feed by music or photos according to the article.

Additionally the new newsfeed will be much larger than the current format. This means larger images, articles and of course ads for users. Facebook recently updated the image size of images in links nearly 3x to 154px by 154px and according to TechCrunch this will increase again with the new feed layout.

This may change the way that some marketers use Facebook as one of the current tricks is to use image posts with links in the descriptions to drive reach. The larger sizes teamed with image-only filtering should be a hit with users looking to sort through much of the clutter that can exist on the feed. Additional filterable options rumored include links/news and applications.

Facebook is notorious for news-feed changes but these rumored changes appear that they will be a boon for users, advertisers and stockholders.
