Promise To Make The New “My Yahoo” Your Home Page, Get Retweeted By CEO Marissa Mayer

Promise to switch to the “My Yahoo” personalized home page — which got a facelift today — and you might get a retweet from CEO Marissa Mayer. That’s the unexpected and individualized marketing campaign that’s underway now.

Yahoo announced a refresh to its My Yahoo personalized home page today, which provides one-stop shopping for getting your Yahoo mail, sports scores, Flickr photos, a feature to surface content you might like and more.

Enter Mayer’s personal campaign to spur adoption via her Twitter account. Max Myers tweeted to her that if she retweeted his pledge to make My Yahoo his home page, he’d go through with it:

If @marissamayer RT’s this, I’ll make a My Yahoo page and set it as my homepage. — Max Myers (@maxdmyers) September 19, 2013

She did, spurring a series of copy-cats — which she also retweeted:

It’s pretty fun to watch a CEO get into the trenches like this. Mayer didn’t solicit the retweet-for-My Yahoo pledges. But she certainly rolled with it, once it started. Or whoever is tweeting for her. But I’m pretty sure it’s her.

Here’s a video from Yahoo about its new home page:
