Launching a new UX and design is tough. Reverting to old features and functionality can be even tougher. That’s exactly what Pinterest did today with new design improvements. Unlike many social sites, they listened to their users’ feedback and rolled back some features that were lost in the new design shuffle.
The notable additions that were brought back include:
See It Now
Once an item has been pinned, users can “see it now” to see the pin live.
Pinned From
One of the bigger knocks on the new design was the lack of a “pinned from” element. Users will now be able to see the “via” data to help match users with others who have similar taste.
Mentions
Users will now be able to mention users directly from a post by typing the @ character before the username.
Find Friends
Users can search for both Twitter and Facebook friends on Pinterest who they are connected to.
New Improvements Additional notification tools were also announced that help users stay connected and a (well needed) better search. The new notifications will be placed in the upper right and look quick similar to Facebook/Google+:
The search feature will now suggest additional key phrases while the user types to expedite searching and provide additional ideas.
