Pinterest is upping its mobile game by adding more mention, notification and search features to its iOS and Android apps. Now including the “@” sign before a name makes it possible for Pinterest users to mention friends within the app.
The new notification feature alerts users via the app when they have been mentioned or if a comment has been made on one of their pins. Push notifications also have been added, letting users know they received a comment or have been mentioned without opening the app.
Because the nature of Pinterest includes finding content from across the Web, the Pinterest app has made it easier to find images by adding search suggestions as a user types. Users can also view recent searches performed while logged into their Pinterest account from another device.
The ability to add outside content by entering URLs after hitting the “+” sign at the bottom of screen is already part of the Android app’s functionality, but now, Pinterest iOS users can do the same. Unfortunately, users must remember exact URLs for this function, or navigate back and forth between the app and their mobile browser to find content via specific URLs.
