Pinners Purchase Aplenty This Cyber Monday: Pinterest Revenue Triples

By now we know that this year’s

Cyber Monday was a hit with digital sales showing an 18 percent growth from last year. A new study from piqora.com shows that Pinterest helped drive online sales as revenue on Cyber Monday was up 3.6x from the previous 30 days.

Piqora analyzed 400 brands on Pinterest in this study and found that while Pinterest traffic was unchanged the purchasing intent of users was through the roof. According to Piqora, the amount of clicks out to these retailers didn’t change either, it was simply that Pinners went from ‘collect & discover’ mode to ‘buy’ mode. This comes on the heels of revenue spikes of 2x that spanned both Thanksgiving/Black Friday.

The data correlates with the theory that Pinners aren’t just pinning for fun, but that they do use the service to make purchases. According to Piqora a ‘bulk’ of the purchases came from pins that were 2 days to 4 weeks prior. The top tags and images during Cyber Monday included boots and coats this year.
