Let’s just say Caitlyn Jenner’s introduction to Twitter was Olympian.
Jenner launched a new Twitter account today at the same time Vanity Fair published a profile about her transition from male to female and Bruce to Caitlyn, sending successive tweets that almost instantly went viral.

I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me. — Caitlyn Jenner (@Caitlyn_Jenner) June 1, 2015
Less than four hours later, Jenner’s account had more than 1 million followers, reaching that milestone more quickly than any account in the history of Twitter, about an hour faster than the previous record set by Barack Obama’s @POTUS account last month.
Twitter reported that as of 4:21 p.m. Eastern time, there had been 1.5 million tweets sent about Jenner. Jenner, the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion, took to Twitter to thank people for their support.
Another Jenner world record, and at 65? Who'da thought! Humbled & honored to have reached 1M followers in 4 hrs. Thank you for your support. — Caitlyn Jenner (@Caitlyn_Jenner) June 1, 2015
