The latest survey being sent to select Google Glass owners suggests that an official YouTube app may be coming soon. If so, it would join other official Google apps for Glass including Google+, Gmail and Google Now.
I’m one of the Glass Explorers that’s received this latest survey invite. It’s somewhat similar to the survey that I completed a couple months ago, but this one asked for feedback about the group of Glass apps that Google has officially sanctioned and lists on each Glass owner’s “MyGlass” website.
Strangely, the survey asked me to grade a YouTube app even though that app doesn’t exist at the moment.
It’s safe to assume that a YouTube app will eventually come to Glass, especially considering that video recording is one of the device’s primary functions.
The new survey seems to hint that the YouTube app might be included with the next monthly Glass software update. Those updates have typically been pushed to users during the first week of the month, but August’s update hasn’t arrived yet.
Unlike the survey earlier this summer, this new one didn’t ask me how much I’d pay for Glass or how much I’d pay for some of the accessories that were included. It did ask how often I use it, which features I use most, if I use the SMS often and if I ever experience discomfort from wearing Glass, among other questions.
