Until today, LinkedIn users were able to post content to the social networking site in two formats: simple text based updates and links. New upgrades will allow users to add files in updates instead of forcing users to link off to other locations. This comes on the heels of the announcement that users could upload rich media in their profiles earlier this month.
From quotes to company photos, users and companies will be able to provide visual posts while still keeping the textual content around the file. Previously, the images pulled in were sourced directly from links rather than from human uploads. Now, you’ll be able to see infographics, photos and more images without having to leave LinkedIn. The supported file types include:
Images
Documents
Presentations

This new change will help to further LinkedIn’s metamorphosis into a full-fledged social networking site. From the new Timeline-y Upgrade, to the ability to follow prominent users LinkedIn has been pushing to an all-in-one social site. The ability for users to update with photos/documents/presentations is a nice step for those who would like to use LinkedIn as their main social network – especially those with high follower counts.
