LinkedIn’s Big Q3: $252M Revenue (Up 81 Percent YoY) With 187 Million Members Total


LinkedIn sailed past Wall Street estimates with its just-announced

The company is reporting $252 million in revenue for the quarter, an 81 percent jump from Q3 of 2011. Net income was $2.3 million, compared to a loss of $1.6 million a year ago. And the company’s earnings-per-share was 22 cents, double the 11 cent EPS that analysts expected.

With this quarter’s gains, LinkedIn also raised its expected revenue range upward to $939-$944 million from the prior range of $915-$925 million.

Revenues in all three product lines were up significantly in the quarter:

  1. Talent Solutions: revenue totaled $138.4 million, an increase of 95% compared to the third quarter of 2011.

  2. Marketing Solutions: revenue totaled $64.0 million, an increase of 60% compared to the third quarter of 2011.

  3. Premium Subscriptions: revenue totaled $49.6 million, an increase of 74% compared to the third quarter of 2011.

The company also reports that it now has more than 187 million members, up from 174 million at the end of Q2 and 131 million at the end of Q3 last year. LinkedIn also saw a modest gain in unique visitors (as reported by comScore), from 106 million in Q2 to 110 million in Q3.
