On Monday June 10th, we had the opportunity to host our first Twitter Chat with Jon Desrosiers, WordPress Core Developer on ‘How To Get Started Contributing To WordPress.’
Members from all across the WordPress community (and the world) joined in on the conversation to discuss how someone who has never contributed before, could get started.
We had over 40 participants who gave some great advice and gave up a wealth of information and resources that those who would like to start contributing with WordPress, but aren’t sure where to start, can use.
“Keep an open mind and be persistent. With so many people and so many moving parts, it is important to know that we may not always see eye to eye, and sometimes it takes a while for things to get moving. Stay persistent, keep working.” – @cklosowskiChris Klosowski
WordPress is an open source project. This means that anyone, anywhere can be a part of the project. It’s not a company, it’s a community of people who have come together with the same purpose: To make WordPress.
The #WordPress community is awesome, and I think you could ask almost anyone a question and they’ll try to get you an answer. As I’ve gotten more involved, I’ve made lots of WordPress friends, many of whom I run to when I have questions. -Angela Jin @AngelaSJin
Contribute a topic you’re passionate about at your local #WordPress Meetup. It’s amazing how many incredibly bright developers and designers come out to share. During my first presentation at one I stated hosting a WordCamp here; a little over a year later #wcscv @joesimpsonjr Joe Simpson
