Facebook Launches New Preferred Marketing Developer Program

The number of Facebook developer programs is shrinking thanks to a consolidation and enhancement effort. In the past Facebook has had multiple programs that helped developers build apps, plugins and manage ads for Facebook campaigns.  Moving forward the only program that will remain is the Preferred Marketing Developer Program.  This new program will combine the previous Preferred Developer Consultant (PDC) and the Marketing API Program (MAP) programs.

The goal of the new program is to make it easier to match the right developers to the right clients.  Companies can be recommended for the following topics:

  1. Pages

  2. Ads

  3. Aps

  4. Insights

A lookup tool exists in the Preferred Marketing Developer Directory that allows users to search by qualification, geography and customers served:

Those companies that are approved can get a badge to showcase their qualifications.   A Facebook spokesperson stated the following about the program:

“There are now 232 companies based in 35 countries who specialize in Facebook Platform and Ads tools. PMDs will benefit from a new ability to connect to leads via an improved lookup tool, display badge qualifications on their websites and a revamped developer website. “

Interested in signing up?  An online application exists along with a resources area with technical documentation.
