Those heavy users of Facebook lifestyle apps will soon be able to share more information with their friends that will gain more engagement. New actions will be displayed for these apps that will more accurately express just what was performed/seen or read.
The new actions for lifestyle apps are as follows:
Books: read, rate, quote, want to read
Movies and TV: rate, want to watch
Each of these actions will provide a more compelling, descriptive experience that follows along with the new News Feed announcement from last week.
This added post information has tested well, apparently. According to Facebook the interaction of these new lifestyle posts has been “dramatic:”
We’ve worked with a variety of lifestyle app developers to tailor the new actions and News Feed stories to meet common use cases. For example, the new fitness stories dynamically update when someone finishes their workout, and early data shows that average likes per story have increased by more than 2x.
Here’s a list of apps that have put these actions to use:
Fitness: Nike, Cyclemeter, Endomondo, Jawbone UP, Log Your Run, MapMyRun, Runkeeper, Runmeter, Runtastic,SPLIT Multisport GPS, Walkmeter
Books: Bookshout!, GoodReads, Kobo, Random House Inc.’s BookScout
Movies and TV: Rotten Tomatoes, Hulu, Flixster, Fandango, Crackle
For more information on these actions, see the specific for fitness, books, and movies and TV documentation pages on Facebook.
