Cryptocurrency donations to political events acquired a thumbs up from Japan’s inner affairs and communications minister Sanae Takaichi at a press convention Tuesday.
According to a report by native media Kyodo News and syndicated by Reuters, Takaichi stated political donations in cryptocurrency don’t have to be disclosed below the Political Funds Control Law, in contrast to money and securities. Therefore, crypto donations is also made with out restrict.
“Cryptographic assets do not fall under any of the above [regulations], and don’t limit donations,” the minister stated.
As crypto donations turn into extra mainstream Japan’s political events must handle taxonomy and guidelines themselves, Takaichi continued.
“Because it will limit the political activities of politicians, it will be a problem to be discussed by each party and each group.”
