The hottest issue over the past few months has been the dwindling reach that Facebook pages have seen. A new feature, Page Notifications, is in the process of being rolled out that will allow for users to see all posts from any given page.
This will work much like the “Close Friends” functionality for accounts. If the “Get Notifications” box has been checked on a page, Users will not miss updates from that specific brand. A Facebook spokesperson told us the following about the new feature:
“We are currently rolling out the ability for people to receive notifications from specific pages, friends or public figures that they are connected to. This feature will help people keep up with the people and things that they care about most.”
This is something that couldn’t come soon enough for Facebook. The diminished organic reach has been something that brands haven’t been very keen on, and have been rather vocal in fact. Just last week Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban warned Facebook that they were getting too greedy:
FB is blowing it ? This is the first step.. The Mavs are considering moving to Tumblr or to new Myspace as primary site twitter.com/mcuban/status/… — Mark Cuban (@mcuban) October 27, 2012
A specific time was not given on the global roll-out of the feature. Images courtesy of InsideFacebook.
